Sun sun vs Eheim canister filter By Cindie on Jan 26, 2018 I bought a 302b (50 gal filtration) for my 25 gal bow front younger Cichlid tank & 303b (75 gal filtration) for my 55 gal 48”x 12” tank.
My Eheim filters 40 gals and is on my 20 gal young Cichlids tank. I purchased the Eheim filter first. Bad idea trying to figure out set up as a “green horn” with lousy instructions.
The Sun Sun was super easy set up (learned about them watching U tube). It Had minimal instructions but easy to figure out. Both work great but Eheim has a more powerful spray bar then Sun Sun. Shoots across the surface. Sun Sun flows over a couple inches gently.
So if you have cichlids, Mine like rougher water, I would personally prefer the Eheim, but I left my Marineland, hang I bought a 302b (50 gal filtration) for my 25 gal bow front younger Cichlid tank & 303b (75 gal filtration) for my 55 gal 48”x 12” tank. Here’s hoping this SunSun aquarium canister filter review helped you in considering your options. For those looking to upgrade to a more powerful filter that can compete with other high-capacity filters on the market at a fraction of the cost. The HW-304 is an excellent option. The SunSun HW-302 includes filter pads, hoses and all the parts you need to get. A convenient self-priming pump that eliminates the need for manual siphoning.
Shoots across the surface. Sun Sun flows over a couple inches gently. So if you have cichlids, Mine like rougher water, I would personally prefer the Eheim, but I left my Marineland, hang on back, double filter on the tank for better bubbles as well. My Oscars seem to like the calmer Sun Sun flow bar.
Both quiet, work fantastic, and polish water crystal clear, (I added in Poly fil as well). If no experience on setting these up and not much money, personally I’d recommend Sun Sun 1/3 the price works just as well. Hope this is helpful! Ps Chewy has best price for Sun Sun free shipping but didn’t sell them with media included option but I don’t use the charcoal anyway lol. 2 You liked it! Something went wrong. Better as a trash can By mack on Jan 22, 2018 Don't buy this product I've been doing fish tanks since I was 5 I'm 23 now and this serves better as a trash can then a filter. No way it can do a 75 gallon tank if it can barely do 46 gallon tank. The problem is, is that it can barely move water the propeller is trash and it can only trickle out water or the output wand. Please don't waste your money like I did. Don't listen to anybody else and take it from and expert. Great concept of a filter terrible quality.

Waste Of Money By Kayla on Jan 12, 2018 I really wish I hadn’t wasted $50 on this. A handle broke off the first time I locked the top. Had to splice together pieces from old filters to get the inflow tubes to stop leaking. The primer did not work AT ALL so I will still need to suck water through the outflow tube to prime it. The only redeeming factor will be if this filter keeps my tank cleaner than previous ones. If I had money for a different one, this would be in the trash.
It does run quietly. So there’s its one star.
